State Member for Moggill, Dr Christian Rowan MP, is calling on residents of Moggill to come together and celebrate Neighbourhood Watch Week which will run from 2 – 8 October 2017.
Dr Rowan said that local NHW groups will host a range of activities such as stalls at local supermarkets, fairs as well as morning and afternoon teas and open information sessions.
“NHW helps bring local communities and police together to address local issues and help create community solutions and by getting involved in the week’s events and activities, you can help make your NHW work for you” Dr Rowan said.
NHW was introduced in 1984 as a community based program designed to reduce localised crime and fear of crime. The program has a range of additional benefits to police when run effectively within local communities. It strives to assist people improve their personal safety
and home security.
Dr Rowan said that Neighbourhood Watch Week is designed to boost NHW membership and encourage positive engagement between the police and the community.
