State Member for Moggill, Dr Christian Rowan MP, said he was delighted today to host a roundtable forum and morning tea to celebrate Neighbourhood Watch Week 2017.
“Local organisations represented included Senior Constable Dan Egan from the Bellbowrie Police Beat, Edith McPhee, Zone Co-ordinator Brookfield South NHW, Marlene and Ewen De Camp, Russell Clark, John Forrest from Police Consultative Council, Mark Vollmer, Deputy Area Co-ordinator Bellbowrie 4070 NHW, Carolyn Nowicki, Zone Co-ordinator Upper Brookfield NHW, Mark Farmer, Rural Fire Brigade and Tim Mander MP, Shadow Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services and Corrective Services”, Dr Rowan said.
“NHW is a Community Policing program, supported by the Queensland Police Service. They operate as group homes, divided into several zones, each under the support of a Zone Co-ordinator. Residents are educated and encouraged to be alert for any suspicious or criminal activity in the area and to report information to the zone co-ordinator or the police” Dr Rowan said.
Dr Rowan said that Neighbourhood Watch Week is designed to boost NHW membership and encourage positive engagement between the police and the community.
Community members interested in joining NHW should go to the NHWA website, www.nhwa.com<http://www.nhwa.com>. and I encourage all Moggill residents to find a way to join in the celebrations of NHW during the week.
