Recently, the State Member for Moggill, Dr Christian Rowan MP, supported this year’s Chapel Hill State School Festival on the Hill by taking part in the traditional dunk-tank.
Surrounded by students eager to see their local State Member repeatedly submerged, the first dunk-tank pitch for 2019 was by none other than Dr Rowan’s Liberal National Party Colleague, Cr James Mackay, Councillor for the Walter Taylor Ward.
Having successfully bid for the pleasure of being the first to dunk Dr Rowan, Cr Mackay wasted no time in ensuring that the State Member for Moggill would be needing a new change of clothes.
“Each year I can’t wait to support Chapel Hill State School by getting up onto the dunk tank for this great cause.
“In politics you tend to expect cheap shots from your opponents, not your fellow colleagues.” Dr Rowan joked.
It marked the start to another successful school fete for Chapel Hill, which raised an incredible $45,000 for the school community.
The Festival on the Hill also saw the official introduction and unveiling of the School’s new mascot, Lori the Lorikeet.
Speaking at the end of the Festival, Chapel Hill State School P&C President, Mr Matthew Butcher, thanked the local community for coming together and showing their support for the school.
“It was great to see the community get together, and along with the support from local businesses, local Members, and everyone else, contribute so many smiles on the kids’ faces.” Mr Butcher said.
