The LNP has reaffirmed its support for local communities today, with a significant election funding commitment for the Brookfield Recreation Reserve Trust and Brookfield Show Society.
LNP State Member for Moggill Dr Christian Rowan MP was joined by LNP Deputy Leader Tim Mander MP to announce a funding grant of $150,000 for a multipurpose community centre, if the LNP is elected to Government in October 2020.
Dr Rowan said the funding will go a long way to getting this important project off the ground.
“The Brookfield Show Society does a magnificent job each and every year with the Brookfield Show,” Dr Rowan said.
“It brings so much enjoyment to thousands of people.
“This multipurpose centre will greatly benefit the local community.
“A wide-range of different sporting groups, associations and community organisations will be able to use it.
“As the local State Member for Moggill, I couldn’t be happier with today’s election commitment by the LNP.” Dr Rowan said.
President of the Brookfield Show Society, Dr Jenny Paratz, said she was excited by today’s announcement.
“The Brookfield Showgrounds are much loved by the community; it unites the community, and this building – a multipurpose facility – will help bring even more community groups into the area.” Dr Paratz said.
The President of The Brookfield Recreation Reserve Trust Mr Don Chandler said the Trustees were very grateful for this commitment from the LNP.
“The Reserve is an active hub for the Brookfield community not only at show time, but throughout the year.
“The Trust is proud of the Showground’s and the facilities, and it is important they are maintained and improved for the ongoing use and enjoyment of the community.
“On behalf of the Trustees, I’d like to thank Dr Rowan not only for his years of support to the Trust and Brookfield Showgrounds, but also for his ongoing advocacy for this infrastructure and securing this funding under an elected LNP Government.”
