The second round of the Crisafulli LNP State Government’s Games On! program has launched, with sporting clubs invited to apply for a share in $30 million in funding to support grassroots sport across Queensland.
Games On! forms part of the Olympic and Paralympic legacy, with hundreds of community clubs set to benefit from infrastructure upgrades in the lead-up to 2032 and beyond. A total of 119 projects were supported in Round 1, and applications for Round 2 are now open.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland’s future, strengthening local sporting infrastructure and ensuring communities share in the long-term benefits of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
State Member for Moggill, Dr Christian Rowan MP, said the program represented a significant opportunity for local sporting organisations to upgrade facilities and support growing participation.
“Local sporting clubs are at the heart of our community, bringing families together, supporting young people and promoting active, healthy lifestyles,” Dr Rowan said.
“This funding will help grassroots clubs in our region improve their facilities, grow participation and ensure local athletes have the spaces they need to train and compete.”
Games On! will support eligible organisations to deliver infrastructure improvements that make sport more accessible and inclusive, helping clubs grow and making it easier for Queenslanders of all ages to get involved.
Dr Rowan said the program would deliver lasting benefits for communities well beyond 2032.
“As we prepare for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, it is vital that local communities see real, practical benefits,” he said.
“Investing in community sport now means stronger clubs, better facilities and more opportunities for residents to stay active and connected into the future.”
Registrations of Interest are now open for eligible organisations under two categories:
• Games On! ‘Field of Play’ – $20 million available for smaller, community-level infrastructure projects that enhance participation opportunities and upgrade amenities.
• Games On! ‘Partnership Fund’ – $10 million available for larger-scale infrastructure projects or redeveloped precincts.
Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the program was ensuring local clubs across the State benefit from the Games.
“We’re backing Queensland grassroots sports with the upgrades they need to train our next generation of athletes,” Minister Mander said.
“In the lead-up to 2032, we’re investing in local sporting clubs as part of the Games legacy to benefit all of Queensland.
“Participation in sport increases when the right infrastructure is in place, and that’s what the Games On! program is all about.
“This is about backing Queenslanders, from the volunteers who keep local sport running to the next generation discovering the joy of getting involved.
“We are now calling on eligible organisations to come forward with their shovel-ready projects.”
