Dr Christian Rowan MP, the State Member for Moggill, has advised that the Sensis Business Index shows business confidence has gone backwards under the frozen-at-the-wheel Palaszczuk Labor Government.
“The national survey of small and medium sized businesses, including 171 Queensland-based businesses, showed one-third of small business operators believed the Palaszczuk Labor Government was working against them”, Dr Rowan said.
“At negative 17 points, attitudes towards the Palaszczuk Labor Government are the second-worst of any state government, apart from South Australia.
“Prior to the last state election, attitudes to the LNP Government’s policies were the most positive in the country.
“Not once since the change in government have the attitudes towards Labor gone into positive territory, and have further deteriorated in the latest Sensis survey.
“Meanwhile, in the same quarter, attitudes towards the Federal Coalition Government increased to positive 10 points.”
Dr Rowan said more bureaucracy and red tape were the two major criticisms highlighted in the Sensis survey, and that only 12 per cent of respondents believed the Labor’s policies supported small business.
“Queensland is behind the national average on all key indicators, including confidence in the economy,” he said.
“Business confidence has fallen five points in the last quarter and Queensland is significantly behind the other major states of New South Wales and Victoria.
“The Sensis survey is the latest economic report to indicate the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s lack of vision is hurting the economy, with this week’s trend
building approvals also showing a 6.1 per cent annual decline.
“Only the LNP has the experienced and competent team and a real economic plan to unleash Queensland’s potential.”
