Applications are still open to become this year’s Moggill electorate representative in the 2019 Queensland Youth Parliament.
Dr Christian Rowan MP, State Member for Moggill and LNP Shadow Minister for Communities and Shadow Minister for Disability Services and Seniors, Shadow Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Shadow Minister for the Arts, said the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament was a unique opportunity for local 15 to 25 year olds to take part in a life-changing experience.
“This terrific program offers young Queenslanders an amazing opportunity to connect with others and have a real say about important issues affecting our community and state, all while building their own leadership skills and learning about our great democracy.
“Now in its 24th year, the YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament brings together 93 young members from across the state, and I would strongly encourage any of our young locals thinking about participating to put their hand up and give it a go,” Dr Rowan said.
Participating youth members currently in years 11 or 12 can receive one point toward their Queensland Certificate of Education after completing their Certificate of Education for completing the program.
This year’s Youth Parliament will run from April to October and will feature a mix of social events and time spent working together and debating bills at Queensland Parliament House.
Applications close Friday 22 February 2019.
Applications can be made by visiting http://www.ymcabrisbane.org/queensland-youth-parliament-home.html or for more information, please call Dr Rowan’s Moggill electorate office on 3737 4110.
