The LNP will take action to end the traffic chaos at the Kenmore Roundabout, with a major upgrade to improve safety, reduce congestion and unclog the critical bottleneck if elected on October 26.
An LNP Government would commit $75 million towards fixing the Kenmore Roundabout and making safety improvements at the Our Lady of the Rosary (OLR) intersection.
The announcement restores funding that was cut by Labor and lifts the brakes on getting Moggill Road moving again.
The LNP’s plan also includes an Integrated Road and Public Transport Plan for Brisbane’s Western Suburbs. LNP Deputy Leader Jarrod Bleijie said Labor had failed Brisbane families by stalling this much-needed infrastructure.
“Families in Brisbane’s Western Suburbs have been left in the lurch while Labor idles on this desperately needed project,” Mr Bleijie said.
“Moggill Road was listed as one of the top 10 traffic hotspots in the RACQ’s congestion survey last year, and families are at breaking point.
“The LNP is committed to building the infrastructure needed for the future and getting our busy roads flowing again with our Safer Roads, Better Transport program.”
LNP Member for Moggill Christian Rowan said the project will transform Moggill Road.
“Fixing the Kenmore Roundabout will ease traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and improve the frequency, reliability, and safety of both local public and active transport,” Dr. Rowan said.
“It’s especially important to build this infrastructure now to keep kids and families safe around the two schools and Kenmore Village shopping centre.
“As part of our Integrated Road and Public Transport Plan, the LNP will also deliver additional bus services for the Western Suburbs to get more cars off the road.”
Dr Rowan said Queenslanders could vote to fix the Kenmore Roundabout and a comprehensive Integrated Road and Public Transport Plan for the Western Suburbs of Brisbane, by voting LNP on October 26.
“Labor is desperate to hold onto power, but unless we change the government, we’ll continue to get more of the same,” Dr Rowan said.
“This is the opportunity for a Fresh Start with the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
