This year’s annual Australian Red Cross Western Suburbs District Branch ‘Big Morning Tea’, held at the Kenmore Village Library, has raised nearly $6,000 dollars, thanks to the generosity and support of local members and residents.
Speaking after the Morning Tea, Dr Christian Rowan MP, the State Member for Moggill and Shadow Minister for Communities, Disability Services and Seniors, said that the total amount raised by the Red Cross Western Suburbs District Branch was further evidence that the generosity and community spirit of local residents is alive and well in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane.
“Each year, I’m delighted to be able to support the Western Suburbs District Branch of the Australian Red Cross through its Big Morning Tea.
“It’s a terrific event and with 120 members, and their friends, at this year’s morning tea, it was certainly the best yet.
“To have raised $5,924, all of which will go to the Red Cross’ National Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund and support affected communities in North Queensland, is a true testament to the enormous generosity of our local residents and the hard work of volunteers.
“Once again I’d like to offer my congratulations to the Red Cross Western Suburbs District Branch, and my sincere appreciation to Branch President Judith Weston and Secretary Helen Clarke for their efforts in making this Morning Tea the great success that it was.
