The Kenmore View Club recently celebrated its 29th birthday with a special luncheon at the Bellbowrie Tavern.
Alongside special guests Lyn Masters, VIEW Club National Councillor, and Dr Christian Rowan MP, State Member for Moggill and Shadow Minister for Communities, Disability Services and Seniors, Kenmore VIEW Club President Jean Clarke hosted the luncheon with more than 50 VIEW Club members.
Before lunch even began, members were treated to a very special performance by the acclaimed Moggill Singers, followed by a number of lucky members being drawn out of the fundraising raffle, which raised nearly $1,200 – all of which will go directly towards the 10, Learning for Life Students the VIEW Club supports in partnership with The Smith Family.
While celebrating the Club’s 29th anniversary, VIEW Club President Jean Clarke noted that the Kenmore VIEW Club is the oldest VIEW Club in Brisbane.
“Fun and friendship, and support of each other in difficult times is one of our core values. VIEW has provided me with the opportunity to meet and make new friends and renew old friendships especially when I was working.
“Throughout our 29 years, we’ve been able to increase our support for The Smith Family by sponsoring more and more students, now ten, as our funds and increased efforts have allowed us to do.
“Supporting these children increases their life opportunities and enhances society in general, as well as providing a great deal of satisfaction to all VIEW members.” Mrs Clarke said.
Addressing the luncheon, Dr Rowan paid tribute to the members of the Kenmore VIEW Club who have all contributed to its great success over the years.
“As the local State Member for Moggill and as the LNP Shadow Minister for Communities, Disability Services and Seniors, I’m fortunate to see first-hand the incredible work that is done by so many selfless members of the community, all of whom are united in their passion and desire to help others. The Kenmore VIEW Club is certainly no exception.
“As we celebrate this great milestone of 29 years today, on behalf of our local community can I again thank all VIEW Club members for all their your hard work, and I cannot wait to join everyone and celebrate a very special 30th anniversary next year.” Dr Rowan said.
