Today, the State Member for Moggill, Dr Christian Rowan MP, welcomed the Liberal-National Party’s Shadow Minister for Transport & Main Roads, Andrew Powell MP, to Kenmore to show him first hand the need for an integrated road and public transport plan for the western suburbs of Brisbane, including the electorate of Moggill.
Dr Rowan said, “I am fighting for an integrated and co-ordinated road and public transport plan to alleviate traffic congestion. Such a plan needs to consider all congestion hot spots across the western suburbs and look at all possible solutions – road upgrades (including innovative engineering solutions), public transport solutions and any plan requires the co-operation of all levels of government.”
With an increasing population in the western suburbs of Brisbane, the State Government must plan and then play its part and act.
“Over the past three years the ‘do-nothing’ Palaszczuk Labor Government has failed to progress any plan with respect to transport and infrastructure solutions for residents of the Moggill Electorate. This is also on top of Labor’s previous failure given they have been in power in Queensland for 24 of the last 28 years.”
The LNP’s Shadow Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Andrew Powell MP said, “Dr Rowan, alongside Tarnya Smith in Mount Ommaney and Scott Emerson in Indooroopilly, has been advocating for an integrated plan for the western suburbs of Brisbane. So, it was great to be out on the ground with him this morning and to see first-hand – and get stuck in – the nightmare of a commute from Kenmore. It’s clear to me the residents of Moggill deserve better than what they’ve got out of successive Labor governments.”
Dr Rowan said, “Only the LNP has a comprehensive plan to create jobs, better manage Queensland’s finances, take action on the cost of living, by freezing family car registration and lower the cost of electricity, and only the LNP will build the vital infrastructure that is needed.”
