State Member for Moggill, Dr Christian Rowan MP, has welcomed the Federal Government’s small business budget measures, saying they will provide an immediate boost to business.
The Federal Government last night announced small businesses with an annual
turnover of less than $2 million will have their tax rate lowered to 28.5
percent from 30 percent.
It also announced every item purchased up to $20,000 by these businesses will receive an immediate tax deduction. This was a significant increase from the previous
$1,000 threshold.
“This is not only welcome news for many small businesses in my electorate of Moggill, but also right across Queensland, ” Dr Rowan said today.
“This will provide an immediate boost to local businesses that may have previously delayed capital expenditure and it will also help to create more local jobs.”
Dr Rowan also welcomed additional childcare assistance for families, $10 billion
in additional funding for the Medical Research Future Fund, and extra measures to tackle youth unemployment.
