Dr Christian Rowan MP, State Member for Moggill, has sponsored a petition to the Queensland Parliament, calling on the Palaszczuk Labor Government to commence trials of extending the 444 Translink bus service to the Moggill District Sports Park.
Dr Rowan said Saturday’s official opening of the Sports Park highlighted Labor’s refusal to extend the bus service, and strengthened calls for action to be taken.
“I went to Labor’s Minister for Transport and Main Roads requesting the extension of public transport to the Sports Park and was told in no uncertain terms that while he acknowledged that the Park “will become an attractor for the suburb”, he would not extend the bus service.
“This is unacceptable. That’s why I’ve sponsored this petition to call on the Minister to commence a 6 month trial of extending the bus route to show just how important this service is for the safety and amenity of all residents.”
Residents wishing to add their support can sign hardcopies of the petition at Dr Rowan’s Moggill Electorate Office (Level 1, Kenmore Village, 9 Brookfield Road), or sign online via the Queensland Parliament (https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/work-of-assembly/petitions/petition-details?id=3076) or at Dr Rowan’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ChristianRowanLNP)
The petition is open until 12 April 2019.
