The State Member for Moggill, Dr Christian Rowan MP, says Education Minister Kate Jones must detail how the Government will address enrolment pressure at Kenmore State High School. Dr Rowan noted that there are currently eleven primary schools spread throughout the Moggill Electorate and only one high school which is situated on the eastern boundary.
The outlying suburbs of Brookfield, Pullenvale, Bellbowrie, Karana Downs, Mount Crosby and Lake Manchester continue to grow, and with no new high school in the pipeline for the foreseeable future, all these students will have to be fitted in to the only high school in the whole electorate – Kenmore State High School.
Dr Rowan said that the LNP would have funded more new schools through the $1 billion Future Schools Fund, which was to be bankrolled by the leasing of public assets, but that Labor had scrapped that plan.
Dr Rowan accused the Government of ignoring the needs of the Moggill electorate. Dr Rowan has called on the Palaszczuk Government to not only invest in the Kenmore State High School Infrastructure Master Plan but to also commit to funding an additional high school in the electorate given population growth and demographic changes.
