The Queensland Government has announced that a review of the taxi, limousine and rideshare services is taking place across the State.
The review will be undertaken by an independent taskforce, headed by Mr Jim Varghese AM, who has strong knowledge of the passenger transport sector.
The taskforce has been asked to look at the industry as a whole, considering matters such as addressing the needs of all consumers using the services, public safety, flexibility of the regulatory framework to support innovation and compliance mechanisms that can respond to changes in the industry.
It will report back to the Government in August 2016 with recommendations for consideration.
For this review to be as valuable as it can, the taskforce needs to gain broad insight into the industry and its consumers. Public consultations will be undertaken during the review and I would encourage you to have your say and take advantage of this opportunity.
