Today, Dr Christian Rowan MP, the State Member for Moggill, has criticised Labor’s
Health Minister Cameron Dick for being out of touch when it comes to drug addiction cases amongst young Queenslanders.
Dr Rowan said comments by the Minister that minors only experiment and are not addicted to drugs is a complete insult to many families suffering at the moment.
“These comments are inexcusable, insensitive and should be immediately retracted,” Dr Rowan said.
“At this very moment, within the Moggill electorate, there are families out there with a sibling, a child or a parent who might be struggling with drug-addiction.”
“To simply dismiss their concerns the Minister is doing nothing more than putting his head in the sand and he should be ashamed of himself for his lack of understanding of the drug addiction issues facing our youth.”
“This Government claims to listen to what Queenslanders want, however Minister Dick is doing the complete opposite.”
Dr Rowan said, ” the Health Minister is turning a blind eye to a serious health issue.”
