Dr Christian Rowan MP, the State Member for Moggill and LNP Shadow Minister for the Arts, has donated a one-of-a-kind painting to the Kenmore-Moggill RSL Sub Branch, in commemoration of last year’s Centenary of the Armistice.
Joined by LNP Candidate for Ryan, Julian Simmonds, Dr Rowan presented the artwork to the Kenmore-Moggill RSL Sub Branch President, Rick Maher, and RSL Members, during a special event with Senator The Hon. Linda Reynolds CSC, Federal Minister for Defense Industry.
In presenting the artwork, Dr Rowan paid tribute to local Bellbowrie artist, Jacqueline Hill, from Art at Heart, who was commissioned for the piece.
“I worked with local artist Jacqueline Hill from Art at Heart to commission a painting on behalf of the local community in commemoration of last year’s Centenary of the Armistice, and the final painting is a beautiful, timeless piece.
“Honouring our servicemen and servicewomen is close to my heart, and I am pleased this work will soon be displayed at the Kenmore-Moggill Sub-Branch Inc.
“As the LNP Shadow Minister for the Arts, it’s always terrific to be able to recognise the exceptional skills and work of artists across Queensland, and especially here in our own community,” Dr Rowan said.
Upon receiving the artwork, Mr Maher said it was an important reminder that the recognition of sacrifice, and the willingness of Australians to continue to serve their country, is still an integral part of our community.
“This work of art not only recgonises this past service and sacrifice, but also symbolises future hope.” Mr Maher said.
