Victory for cooler classrooms thanks to LNP
Monday, 25 November 2019
Students across seven schools in the electorate of Moggill will soon benefit from cooler classrooms, thanks to a long-running campaign by the Liberal National Party to air-condition every state school classroom in Queensland.
Dr Christian Rowan MP, the State Member for Moggill, said it was only thanks to the persistent efforts by the LNP that the Palaszczuk Labor Government was finally forced into action.
“Even before we officially reach Summer this year, we have seen some unbearable local temperatures, and the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s head-in-the-sand approach to air-conditioning our schools simply made no sense.
“I’m delighted that our promise to air-condition every state school classroom in Queensland has forced the Palaszczuk Labor Government to finally act.
“True to form, the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s announcement is simply another attempt at playing catch-up, and sadly does not go far enough.
“While this is great news for local students at state schools in Chapel Hill, Brookfield, Upper Brookfield, Kenmore, and Moggill, Labor is still refusing to air-condition every state school in Queensland,” Dr Rowan said.
Dr Rowan said the Liberal National Party would continue to offer a clear choice to residents at the next election, particularly when it comes to local schools.
“You simply cannot trust Labor when it comes to investing in our local schools, investing in local school infrastructure, and delivering results for our students.
“That is why our plan for education will include de-cluttering the curriculum so our schools can concentrate on the basics – reading, writing and maths,” Dr Rowan said.
“The LNP will raise standards and give our kids the best start in life.”
